Day After Day

time passing with strike of mid-night clock
day's travel over and the rest upon us
from day of doing slow window waltz
through night's black darkness deep
to morning sitting inside coffee house
thoughts swirl within my own mind
feeling the turning of night to the day
seeing the morning people entering
going about their routines, daily living
as I sit here, just a misfit interloper
from the dark of the night, watching
as the morning birds sing their songs
the skein of time is woven with loops
heavy and open to the one who sees
I slip through these loops, and live
