She Was Beauty

she was of ordinary features, nice of looks

often her hair was a windblown mess, fluttering about

her choice of dress was modest and never spontaneous

an' if you didn't know her you may think her plain

however,

when she looked at me and her eyes flashed, sparkling

her lips curled into that grin full of orneriness and fun

her voice happy and speaking rapid words, excited

she was nothing but beauty to me, true beauty

and always,

I loved to be near her, everyday, any day

just to be within that small area of her bubble

where her essence was such sweet music

an' the air became too sweet to breath

but now,

the days have passed and I no longer am near

she has grown wings and flown to far places

her courage finally growing to meet her ability

and I stand yet, yearning to see her again
